Rita Faye Kisluk Brown passed away Tuesday, May 1, 2012, at the Kansas City Hospice House.

Funeral services were held Thursday, May 3, at The Louis Memorial Chapel, with burial at Mount Carmel Cemetery. The family suggests contributions to Children’s Mercy Hospital or a charity of one’s choice.

Rita was born in Kansas City, Mo., the daughter of Harry and Gertrude (Bitner) Kisluk. She was devoted to her family and friends, and her annual birthday cards will be missed by hundreds.

She was an avid mystery reader and her Jeopardy knowledge was legendary.

Her favorite quote on her favorite coffee mug was “damned if you do, damned if you don’t.”

Rita was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 39 years, Robert D. Brown; and her two sons, Scott Brown and Lance Brown.

She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Gerald and Elaine Kisluk, Houston; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Frank and Michelle Brown, Kansas City, Mo.; her loving daughters and son-in-law, Vicki Brown, Kansas City, Mo., and Stefanie and J. Rupp, Lee’s Summit; and her granddaughter, Sierra Rupp.
