I was thrilled to see the wonderful article about the University of Kansas students that are on the Birthright Israel trip this winter. Studies by Brandeis University have shown that this is one of the most effective ways to enhance Jewish identity and insure Jewish continuity. {mprestriction ids="1,3"}But, as in most things in life, this “free trip” is not really free.

Students, their families and the community should know that this “birthright,” is paid for by the Annual Campaigns of the Jewish Federations of North America, the government of Israel and major Jewish philanthropists who recognize the impact of this experience. As we prepare for Super Sunday on Feb. 8 to kick-off the 2015 Annual Campaign communitywide, I would encourage parents, grandparents or just all those who care about continuing these programs that make such a difference to give their support to our efforts for the future of our Jewish people.{/mprestriction}
