There are a lot of great movies about baseball. Now fans of baseball and films will not have to choose between a live baseball playoff game and a Jewish-themed movie during the next few weeks. In support of the American League Central Division Champion Kansas City Royals, the Jewish Community Center of Greater Kansas City has decided to postpone the 18th annual Kansas City Jewish Film Festival and move it to January and February 2016. The festival was to open Saturday, Oct. 10. While there is no American League Division Playoff game scheduled that day, several film festival dates conflict with possible Royals baseball games during the playoffs.
When announcing the date change, Shawn Edwards, producer of the KC Jewish Film Festival, said, “The J believes in the Kansas City Royals. {mprestriction ids="1,3"}We also believe we have an amazing film line-up for this year’s Kansas City Jewish Film Festival. We want to support our home team at the playoffs, and we don’t want you to miss your chance to be a part of the Festival. Now, you won’t have to choose.”
However, Edwards continued, “we hope to whet your appetite for the full line-up with special preview screenings still happening in October.” The first special preview, “Amazing Grace,” was held as originally scheduled yesterday (Oct. 7).
The special screenings are:
•“Berlin Calling,” 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 15, at the White Theatre. Admission $10; however high school students may attend this special screening for free. Students must RSVP by emailing .
• “Remember,” 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 15, at AMC Theatre Town Center. Admission: $10.
