Rick Recht, one of the top-touring Jewish musicians today, will join Rabbi Alan Londy at the New Reform Temple’s evening services on Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. In addition to his role as an artist, Recht is regarded as a top Jewish educator and leader. He lives in St. Louis, Missouri, where he serves as artist in residence at United Hebrew Congregation.
To accommodate Recht’s arrival and make services as accessible as possible for its members, the NRT’s Rosh Hashanah evening service will start at 6 p.m. on Sept. 13. {mprestriction ids="1,3"}The Kol Nidre service will start at 6 p.m. on Sept. 22.
“Rabbi Londy and Rick Recht have begun planning in earnest to make this year’s services even more beautiful and meaningful for our members. This will provide us a great opportunity to shine a much-deserved light on the NRT as a great place for Jewish families in Kansas City,” said Dan Fromm, NRT president.
Daytime services on Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur will continue to offer traditional music with the choir.
“I am excited and grateful that Rick will be with us during the High Holy Days,” added Fromm. “This promises to be a great start to the New Year. Our temple is taking a big step forward as it continues to enhance the musical portion of its worship services.”
The NRT is also working with Recht to enhance its regular Shabbat services on several occasions during the coming year.
