Leon Jacobs

Leon Jacobs, 92, of Kansas City, Mo., passed away on Dec. 26, 2014, at St. Luke’s Hospital, a day before his 52nd anniversary to his loving wife, Maggie Smalley Jacobs. Fortunately, they had been able to enjoy a 50th anniversary two years ago with a smashing party at the Carriage Club. Marilynn Maye, who sang at their wedding in 1961, was able to perform for their anniversary party; and Marilyn sang their favorite song, “Make Someone Happy.”

Seth Robert Reice, Ph.D.

Seth Robert Reice, Ph.D., 67, of Carrboro, N.C., died at his home late Tuesday night, Dec. 23, surrounded by love. Funeral services were held at Judea Reform Congregation in Durham, N.C. on Friday, Dec. 26; burial followed at the Old Carrboro Cemetery. Shiva will be held in North Carolina and Overland Park. Shiva will take place in Overland Park at Congregation Beth Torah, 6100 W. 127th St., 66209 on Tuesday, Dec. 30; Wednesday, Dec. 31 and Thursday, Jan. 1, all at 7 p.m.

David Kingsley Dalke

David Kingsley Dalke, 84, died surrounded by his family, on Dec. 19, 2014. Born in Battle Creek, Mich., to Paul and Sarah Dalke, David was an iconic individual. The single event that would define so much of his life was joining the United States Navy, at age 17. He served for 20 years on submarines, and was privileged to serve on the initial crew as a sonarman on the first U.S. ballistic missile submarine, the U.S.S. George Washington. He served as Chief of the Boat of the U.S.S Grenadier, and of the six boats on which he served, he earned the title of “Plank Owner” on two. His travels and adventures in the Navy and on water instilled a love of both in David. The sea remained a passion throughout his life.

Gilbert Joseph Kahn

Gilbert Joseph Kahn, 90, died peacefully on Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2014, at Village Shalom. Funeral services were held Dec. 18, at The Louis Memorial Chapel; burial followed at Rose Hill Cemetery. The family suggests contributions to Village Shalom or Kansas City Hospice and Palliative Care.

Ronald Mack Bushman passed away Dec. 29, 2014, at 81 years of age in California. Ron was born April 6, 1933, and raised in St. Joseph, Mo., graduating Central High School in 1950. He attended the University of Illinois earning a Bachelor of Science degree in finance and the University of Missouri receiving a Juris Doctor in law. {mprestriction ids="1,3"}Ron began his business career at the Mechanics Bank in St. Joseph and relocated to California where he specialized in trusts and ESOP plans. In San Francisco he worked at Pacific National Bank, Union Bank and Redwood Bank establishing and managing trust accounts. Retiring from banking in 1979, Ron became a partner in the law firm of Ludwig & Bushman specializing in real estate and corporate law until 1983 at which time he pursued investments in real estate individually.

Ron was an avid golfer, tennis player and skier and a member of Harbor Point tennis club and Mission Hills Country Club in Rancho Mirage, Calif. He had homes in both Mill Valley and Rancho Mirage.

Ron was predeceased by his parents Joseph and Bess Bushman, and a niece, Michelle Bushman. He is survived by his wife Sydney; step-daughter Tanya Norkus (Chris) and two grandchildren Anna and Dustin, all of Petaluma, Calif.; brothers Jordan Bushman (Betty) of Kansas City, Mo., and Robert Bushman (Helen) of Leawood, Kan.; nephews Jeff and Stephen of Greater Kansas City, and Craig Bushman of Boulder, Colo.; and cousins Joye Tatz of Rancho Mirage and Stanley Bushman of Kansas City, Mo.

Blanche Adelman, 97, of Round Rock, Texas, died Friday, Jan. 9, 2015. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 16, at Mt. Carmel Cemetery, 55th and Ditzler, Raytown, Mo. She was a lifelong resident of Kansas City until her move to the Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., area in 2008 and finally Round Rock in 2013.

She spent many years in Kansas City in the retail industry although her passion was her family relationships with her son, daughter-in-law, grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.

She is survived by son and daughter-in-law: Jeff Nadlman and Melissa Nadlman of Round Rock; her sister: Bertha Wise, 100, of Kansas City; grandchildren and great-grandchildren located in Texas, New Mexico, Tennessee, Kansas City and California.
