Steinzeig, Alan

We sadly announce the death of our beloved husband, father and grandfather, Alan Steinzeig. To know Alan was to love him.

 

Alan was born on June 2, 1921, to Dorothy and Jacob Steinzeig in Kansas City, Missouri. He attended Troost Elementary School and Paseo High School.

He entered the Navy during World War II from 1942-1946 and made friends that lasted a lifetime.

Alan met his wife, Gloria, from Oklahoma City, in 1949. They got engaged after five dates and had a beautiful marriage that lasted 68 years.

He was in the wholesale jewelry business, A & M Jewelry, with his late father and late brother, Milton, for many years. Alan later formed Gold Coast Jewelry & Antiques with his wife.

He belonged to The Temple, Congregation B’nai Jehudah all his life. He also belonged to the ROMEO’s Men’s Club.

Alan leaves his wife Gloria (Prairie Village, Kansas), his daughters: Marcy Alexander (Las Vegas, Nevada), Susie and Steve Jacob (Overland Park, Kansas), grandchildren: Lori Jacob (Kansas City, Missouri), Betsy and Billy Jacob (Overland Park, Kansas), nephew: Steve Steinzeig and family (California), nieces: Pamela Steinzeig (Independence, Missouri), Cindy Steinzeig Cohen and family (Leawood, Kansas), cousins: Dr. Sherman Steinzeig (Overland Park, Kansas), and Marge Brodkin (Leawood, Kansas). 

Funeral services were held Sunday, Jan. 21, 2018, at The Louis Memorial Chapel; burial followed at Rose Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations sent to SAFEHOME or Kansas City Hospice.
