Joel Weinberg, 63, a Kansas City native, died March 16, 2017. He was born April 10, 1953, to the late Danny and Addie Weinberg.

He grew up with his siblings Cheri (Gene), now living in Sarasota, Florida, and Gary (Gail) of Overland Park, Kansas. Joel attended Shawnee Mission East High School and studied at Berklee School of Music and the University of Texas.

He spent his life dedicated to his love of music and brightening the spirits of friends and family. He was an accomplished guitar player in the Kansas City area. Joel enjoyed playing in multiple bands over the years such as Contraband and The Sweat Band. In 2012 his work with the band Morningstar was honored by the Kansas Music Hall of Fame. 

Joel lived in many different places over his life including California and Florida. He settled in Kansas City where he spent 30 years together with his devoted wife, Mary. He was a passionate and caring father to daughters Raina and Melissa. His memory will live on through the love he shared with those he touched.
