JoAnne Weiner, 88, passed away Jan. 3, 2017. Funeral services were held Jan. 5, 2017, at The Louis Memorial Chapel; interment followed at Sheffield Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.

 

JoAnne was born Aug. 13, 1928, in Kansas City, Missouri. She was the daughter of William and Sarah Tint. JoAnne was a graduate of Paseo High School and Tiferet Sforad Religious School. JoAnne’s focus was being a devoted wife and mother, guided by her stalwart traditional values and moral beliefs. Surviving the Great Depression shaped her life forever. She was a proud American and very proud of her Jewish heritage. Upon returning to the work force, she headed the sugar department for the United States at the USDA until her retirement.

She married her childhood sweetheart, Allen Weiner, on Feb. 2, 1947. She was the mother of three children: Roslyn Weiner, Wendy Claster and Bruce Weiner; grandmother of four grandsons, Erik (Keren), Scott, Zachary (Heather) and Alex Claster; and a very fortunate great-grandmother to eight great-grandchildren. 

JoAnne was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Allen Weiner; daughter, Roslyn Weiner; son, Bruce Weiner; brother, Lester Tint, and her identical twin Shirley Mandelbaum.
