Wayne, Jeanette

Jeanette Wayne passed away Saturday, Dec. 17, 2016, at Village Shalom. Funeral services were held Dec. 19, at Louis Memorial Chapel; burial followed at Mount Carmel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to Village Shalom, Congregation Beth Shalom or Great Plains SPCA.

Jeanette was born July 16, 1931, to Sam and Ida Miller. She and brothers, Melvin and Jack, were raised in Lexington and Richmond, Missouri. After moving to Kansas City and attending Paseo High School, Jeanette attended the University of Oklahoma. Soon after this she met the love of her life, Bob Wayne, and they enjoyed 57 wonderful years together.

Jeanette was a member of Hadassah, B’nai B’rith International, Beth Shalom Sisterhood and Children’s Asthma Research Institute and Hospital. She enjoyed playing golf and cards, needlepointing and knitting.

Jeanette is survived by her brother Jack Miller, and her children and their spouses, Susan and Scott Krigel, Melody and David Wayne, and Karen and Jerry Green. She is also survived by grandchildren, Lara Pabst and husband Ben, Ari Krigel and wife Beth, Steven Krigel and wife Ilana Silverstein, Ashley Italia and husband Michael, Courtney Green, and Heather Wayne. Great-grandchildren are Norah, Harry and Rhys Pabst, and Everett and Quinn Krigel.

Jeanette was predeceased by her husband Bob, son Stephen Wayne, parents Sam and Ida Miller, and brother Melvin Miller.

Jeanette’s family would like to thank her doctors, Alexander Davis and Jonathan Jacobs, who greatly extended the length and quality of her life, and Kansas City Hospice and Palliative Care. And a special thank you to the staff at Village Shalom, who treated Jeanette with dignity and loving care. Supportive friends include Helen, Ruthie, Barbara, Lana, the Katz family, and her brother Jack, who was often by her side.
