Eaglstein, Dr. N. Fred

Dr. N. Fred Eaglstein passed away on Friday morning, Oct. 21, 2016, in Jacksonville, Florida. Fred was born on June 17, 1953, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Max and Mildred Eaglstein. Fred attended the Pembroke Country Day School, and graduated from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, where he met his wife, Susan Kornblatt.

Fred was a graduate of the Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences. He completed a rotating internship at the Public Health Service Hospital in Staten Island, New York. His dermatology residency was completed at the University of Tennessee and a dermatology fellowship in immunodermatology at Johns Hopkins. In 1986, Fred founded the Dermatology Center in Jacksonville, Florida. He was a diplomate of the American Board of Dermatology, a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology, and a member of the American Society for Mohs Surgery. He was the section chief of dermatology at Orange Park Medical Center, past president of the Jacksonville Dermatology Society, and was awarded surgeon of the year in 2014 from the Florida Society of Dermatologic Surgeons.

Fred was a gentle, sweet man with a curious mind and many hobbies. Although golf was his passion, he also enjoyed fishing, boating, working out and traveling, often sharing these interests with Sue, his boys and his many friends.

Fred is survived by his wife, Sue, of 39 years; and his children, Mitchell and Brett (Dr. Emily); his brother, Bill (Janet); and his sister, Eileen Cohen.
