Lynne I. Rabin, 78 of Overland Park, Kansas, passed away Oct. 5, 2016. Funeral services were held Oct. 7 at Louis Memorial Chapel; interment followed at Rose Hill Cemetery.

Lynne was born Sept. 6, 1938, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Paul and Bess Berman. After graduating from Southwest High School in Kansas City, she attended college at the University of Illinois. She later completed her studies at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, earning a bachelor’s degree in education.

Her life was filled with challenges and she faced each and every one of them with dignity and grace. Following the tragic death of her husband, Morley Steinberg, she became a single mother of three children ages 1, 3 and 6. Years later when her fourth child Andrew was diagnosed with leukemia, she gathered up her courage again, caring for him through dozens of hospital stays.

Life continued to throw curve balls at Lynne as she battled cancer twice and other health issues, always baffling doctors with her will to survive.

Lynne worked at the Jewish Community Center for 12 years, where she held several positions including director of adult programming. While at the JCC, she revitalized programming for singles and adults and organized the annual book fair.

She loved to play mahjong, and adored spending time with her grandchildren and meeting her great-granddaughter.

Lynne was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Morley Steinberg, and son, Andrew Rabin.

Survivors include her daughter, Janet Sieben (Dan); sons, Mark Rabin (Faith) and Daniel Rabin (Angela); brother, Mike Berman (Alexa); grandchildren, Ryan Sieben, Samantha Sieben, Justin Rabin (Angie) and Ashley Carey (Zach) and great-granddaughter, Alayna Rabin.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
