Dossie Riesman, 86, a lifelong area resident, passed away June 26, 2016. Funeral services are set to take place Wednesday, June 29, at Louis Memorial Chapel, with innterment following at Sheffield Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to The Farmer’s House, 515 Main St, Weston, MO 64098, which is a place for special needs children that was very dear to her heart, or to The Temple, Congregation B’nai Jehudah.

Dossie was born Jan. 3, 1930, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Morris and Lillian (Bell) Manfield. She attended Kansas City schools and graduated from Central High School. After graduating, she worked as a bookkeeper for an insurance agency. Dossie met her future husband of 47 years at a chaperoned event. They were a couple for two years after Morris moved to Kansas City from Dallas, Texas. They were married in November of 1949. Morris and Dossie would work together in the business that he started, Allstate Air Filter Company.

From the moment of their marriage, family became the central point of Dossie’s life. She was an incredibly loving and caring person who always expressed love and kindness. Dossie was a former member of Kehilath Israel Synagogue and a current member of The Temple, Congregation B’nai Jehudah and the ladies’ “Red Hat Society.” She was a former member of Hadassah, the Sisterhood and City of Hope.

Dossie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Morris Riesman and her son, Jeffrey Riesman. She is survived by her son, Bruce (Michelle) Riesman; daughter-in-law, Denise Riesman; grandchildren, Evan (Elaina) Riesman, Colin Riesman, Taylor Riesman, Andy Riesman; great-grandson, Charlie Riesman; nephews, David Schulman, Alfred Jones, Mark Manfield and niece, Deanne “Susie” Gilbert.

Our loving mother, grandmother and “Bubbie” will be greatly missed by her family and many friends. The family would like to thank Lucille Tutera and her staff at The Atriums for their wonderful care and environment.
