Edward Jaben

Edward Jaben, 89, died June 3, 2016, at his home in Irving, Texas. A native of Kansas City and a 1943 graduate of Paseo High School, Ed was a Navy lieutenant during World War II, serving in Italy.

He had a long career in the retail business and was one of the pioneers of discount stores. He retired as executive vice president of Zale Corporation.

One of the best "people persons," with a great sense of humor, Ed was widely respected and loved by his family, friends, employees and customers.

Although Ed did not have a given middle name, one could say that he had two: “responsibility” and “family.” Both were of utmost importance to him.

He leaves behind his wife of nearly 53 years, Rae; his children Bruce, Cynthia, Teri, Cheryl, Jan, Keith and Darla; grandchildren Lisa, Mindy, Elizabeth, Anatoly, Daniel and Ariel; great-grandchildren Alex, Mina, Daniel, Celia, Juliana and Sidney; and brothers Fred and Allen.
