The extraordinary Mary Gortenburg, 97 and some change, died May 29, 2016, surrounded by her children at her home. Funeral services were held on Monday, May 30.

 

Mary was the daughter of Rose (Rifka) Deckelbaum Bratt and Issie (Yitzhak) Bratt of blessed memory.   

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Leon Gortenburg (Moishe Laib).

They worked together for 50 years at East Side Auto Parts.  

She was also preceded in death by her sisters: Jean Braunstein, Frances Duberstein and Helen Sokol. 

Surviving is her brother, Harry L. Bratt.  

She is also survived by her children: Gary, Roseanne, Michael, Seth, Mimi and Martha; six grandchildren: Sarah, Joe, Tali, Ava, Hannah and Isaac; great-grandchildren: Collin, Thea, Katerina and Kalasia.

Mary was smart, tough, unconventional and loving and will be missed by all.
