Joseph Snitkoff

Joseph Snitkoff, age 90, of Overland Park, Kansas, passed away on Thursday evening, May 12, 2016.

He was the younger of two children born in Brooklyn, New York, to Harry and Pearl Snitkoff. Joseph was married to his beautiful wife Rhona for 62 years. He was a loving husband and father of six children, 13 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and dear uncle and great uncle to his nephew and nieces.

Joseph, commonly known as “Big Joe,” worked his way through school, obtaining his bachelor’s degree in aeronautical engineering from Polytechnic University of Brooklyn, New York. He spent many years as an aeronautical engineer with the Grumman organization in New York. He then spent the last 20-plus years of his career as an aerospace engineer with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). He was always willing to take on a new challenge and relocated multiple times across the Midwest and East Coast during his career.

Big Joe had a strong work ethic and was a true family man. He loved to travel throughout the United States and overseas. In his younger years he enjoyed planting tomatoes and tulips. He also enjoyed bowling and loved to watch football and golf.

Services were held Sunday, May 15, 2016, at Mount Carmel Cemetery.

The family suggests memorial contributions to The American Red Cross, Congregation Beth Shalom or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
