Sylvia Yastrob Hochman, 102, passed away May 4, 2016, at Lamar Court Assisted Living. Funeral services will be held in Boynton Beach, Florida. The family suggests memorial contributions to Congregation Ohev Sholom.

Sylvia was born Feb. 23, 1914, in Pest, Hungary, to Martin and Bertha Yastrob. Her father came to the United States; when he had earned enough money, he sent for the rest of the family in 1923 when Sylvia was only 9 years old. She would later marry Al Hochman, also from Hungary. She lived in Yonkers, New York, then moved to Florida and finally moved to Kansas City in 2014. Sylvia was a current member of Congregation Ohev Sholom. 

She is survived by her sons, David (Judy) Hochman, Robert Hochman; sisters, Adele Wasserman, Edith Brill; grandchildren, Rachel Hochman, Audrey (Brian) Miller; great-grandchildren, Kory, Cooper, Colden, Kai, Kinley Miller and one great-great-grandchild, Ryann Miller. 

Sylvia was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Al Hochman.
