Sarah M. Galapo

Sarah M. Galapo, presently of Dayton, Ohio, previously of Overland Park, Kansas, passed away peacefully the morning of April 15, 2016, after living 84 years of life.

Sarah was born May 7, 1931, in Panama City, Panama, and came to live in the United States with her entire family early in her 20s. She was married to Maurice Galapo for over 39 years until his passing in 2000.

She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by her four children: Marcella Galapo (Randy Young) of Oak Grove, Missouri; Simon Galapo (Janet Galapo) of Leawood, Kansas; Carmen Price (Stacy Price) of Houston, Texas, and Rachel Boyd (Bryan Boyd) of Dayton, Ohio, as well as 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Sarah’s biggest love in life was her family and she dedicated herself to always being the anchor of strength for her children and grandchildren.

Her early years in marriage were by the side of her husband in helping build the family business and later became a stay-at-home mother to raise her children and was very involved in raising her grandchildren.

She also worked at the John T. Hartman Elementary School for over 20 years where she directly interacted in helping young children in any way she could.

Our prayers go to our beloved mother, grandmother and friend, we know that she is peacefully looking down at us, keeping a watchful eye as she has done for our entire lives. We will surely miss her presence and feel extremely fortunate to have had her in our lives. She will always be remembered and treasured forever and always.
