Ferne Searles, 82, of Leawood, Kansas, passed away April 24, 2016. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 28, 2016, in the Yukon Chapel at Mt. Carmel Cemetery, with burial to follow. Kindly omit flowers; the family suggests memorial contributions to the Ronald McDonald House or to Wayside Waifs.
Ferne was born Oct. 1, 1933, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to Albert and Esther Satz. She was a lifetime member of Congregation Beth Shalom’s Sisterhood and was a member of Hadassah. Ferne enjoyed flowers, traveling with her friends, playing cards such as pan and playing mah-jongg. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 57 years, Milton Searles. Ferne is survived by her son, Mark Searles and wife Toube; daughter, Felice Searles and companion John Haggerty; grandchildren, Adam Searles and wife Rachel, Jordan Searles, Arianna Searles and her brother, Stanley Satz and wife Wanda.
