Bertha was born Sept. 23, 1916, in Argentine, Kansas, the daughter of Max and Eva Sher. She moved with her family as a young child to Kansas City, Missouri, where she attended Kansas City schools and graduated from Central High School. Bertha met her husband Sam at the YMCA and married him three years later. They were happily married for 67 years. Bertha worked for The Hallmark Card Company for 31 years. She worked in several departments but liked working in the Employee Card Shop the best, as it allowed her to interact with other employees. Following retirement, she volunteered at Kaleidoscope, a children’s workshop associated with Hallmark. There she was named the first “Volunteer of the Year” by Mr. Hall. She also volunteered at Saint Joseph Health Center for 34 years, most recently in the pharmacy department.

Bertha led a very active life and enjoyed playing cards, singing in the choir and reading. She also loved her friends and family, and she enjoyed visits with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Bertha was preceded in death by her husband: Sam Zurovsky; her parents: Max and Eva Sher; and her son: Edward Zurovsky. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law: Judi and Marty Chaitman, Overland Park, Kansas; her grandchildren: Tim and Jillina Swango, Frisco, Texas; Michelle and Alan Rosenberg, Atlanta, Georgia; Anita and Kenny Kraus, Chesterfield, Missouri; seven great-grandsons and three great-granddaughters.

She will be remembered for her wonderful attitude and greatly missed by her friends and family. The family would like to thank the staff at Kansas City Hospice House and The Atriums for all their loving care.
