Mary R. Cohen, 99, a lifetime area resident, passed away Nov. 18, 2015. Graveside service and interment were Nov. 22, 2015, at Sheffield Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association or Kehilath Israel Synagogue.
Mary was born Sept. 16, 1916, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Israel and Mollie Dworetsky. {mprestriction ids="1,3"}Mary and her husband Joseph co-owned Joe’s Farm Market. She was a member of Kehilath Israel Synagogue and enjoyed playing cards such as mahjong. Mary’s true passion and joy was her family, she cherished every moment with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joseph Cohen; sisters, Bertha Dworetsky, Esther Cohen and brothers, Matt, Joe and Marvin Devoe. Survivors include her son, Irwin Cohen and wife Carol of Dublin, Ohio; daughter, Jacquelyn Valenti of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
