Jay N. Pollack

Jay N. Pollack passed away Monday, Aug. 17, 2015. Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. today, Thursday, Aug. 20, at Louis Memorial Chapel; interment will follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery. Family requests no flowers; donations may be made to the Naman, Pollack, Block Youth Fund at Congregation Beth Shalom or to Village Shalom.

Jay was born in Kansas City, Missouri, in 1929 to Annalee and Oscar Pollack. He was a lifelong member of Congregation Beth Shalom. {mprestriction ids="1,3"}Jay graduated from Southwest High School and MU where he was a member of Sigma Alpha Mu Fraternity. He served in the Korean War using his talents in mapmaking. He then joined his family business, The Burlington Manufacturing Co., a national company founded by his grandfather, Hyman Naman. He was in the apparel industry for the remainder of his career. Jay’s lifelong passion for cars allowed him to continue in retirement with Kahan Chevrolet and the Kansas Speedway where he operated a testing garage off pit row.

Jay had a zest for life and a love of family and friends. He never knew a stranger. His insatiable desire to do for others, love of road trips and dogs were his ultimate joy. His family was the essence of his existence. 

Jay is survived by his wife of 61 years, Charlene; daughter Elyse Block (Randy); son Hal Pollack (Amy); grandchildren Gregory Block (Sara), Phillip Block (Melissa), Samuel Block (Jacki), Zachary Pollack and Alissa Pollack. Great-grandchildren Julia, Annie, Nathan and Rachel Block.
