Rebecca Raeder Wexler, 95, passed away Thursday, July 9, 2015, in Olathe, Kansas. Memorial services were held Sunday, July 12, at The Louis Memorial Chapel. In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society or the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

 

Rebecca was born in Toledo, Ohio, to William Jacob and Jennie (Cohen) Raeder. {mprestriction ids="1,3"}She was one of four sisters. After her graduation from Toledo schools she went on to study art and became an accomplished artist. Rebecca married Morris Wexler and during their 30 years of marriage they raised three children: Victor, Pamela and Deborah. After the sudden death of Morris, Rebecca spent the next 30 years with her second husband: Fred Szabo. She and Fred owned and operated the largest antique store in Ohio. After selling the store they moved to Big Pine Key, Florida, and later to Sebring, Florida. After Fred’s death Rebecca moved to the Greater Kansas City area to be near one of her children. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Rebecca was preceded in death by her parents; husbands: Morris Wexler and Fred Szabo; daughter: Pamela Gaye Raeder Wexler; sisters: Violet Forman, Rose Moldawsky and Bobeye Fink.

She is survived by son: Victor Raider-Wexler, Overland Park, Kansas; daughter and son-in-law: Deborah Wexler and Joseph Oates, Bellevue, Washington; grandchildren: Joshua Kirshner, Adrienne Kirshner, Jenna Ruth Wexler Oates, Sarah Rachel Wexler Oates, Christopher Thomas Anderson and wife, Penn Anderson Dodson, Sarah Luisa Gonzalez Raider-Wexler, Whitney Jordan Donaldson Raider-Wexler, Simona Flora Nauronyte-Wexler; great-grandchildren: Charlie and Ethan; daughters-in-law: Dr. Micaela Wexler and Zivile Nauronyte.
