Jennette Dobrowski

Jennette Dobrowski, 87, passed away peacefully at Kansas City Hospice House on Sunday, March 15, 2015, surrounded by her family. Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 17, at Louis Memorial Chapel, followed by burial at Kehilath Israel Blue Ridge Cemetery. The family suggests contributions to Kansas City Hospice House (12000 Wornall Road, Kansas City, MO 64145), Midwest Center for Holocaust Education (5801 W. 115th St., Suite 106, Overland Park, KS 66211) or a charity of one’s choice.

 

Jennette was born in 1927 in Miendzyrzec, Poland, and came to Kansas City in 1950. {mprestriction ids="1,3"}She and her husband, Morris, owned Dobrowski, the Tailor in the Ward Parkway Shopping Center for 35 years, from 1962 to 1997. She was a Holocaust survivor. She enjoyed her many trips to Israel and enjoyed vacationing to Florida. Mrs. Dobrowski was a member of Kehilath Israel Synagogue and its Sisterhood and New American Club.  

She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Morris Dobrowski; her parents Issac and Devorah Chemny; her sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Leon Katzberg; brother, Baruch Chemny and other relatives that perished in the Shoah.

Jennette is survived by daughters and sons-in-law Celia and Bruce Solomon and Sharon and Jeffrey Mallin all of Overland Park, Kansas; son and daughter-in-law, David and Ruth Dobrowski, Short Hills, New Jersey; grandchildren, Andrea and Jeff Bourke, Leawood, Kansas; Matt and Stacey Solomon, Overland Park; Ben Dobrowski, Edie and Eli Haymovitz, Sarah Dobrowski and Dana Dobrowski, all of New York; Melissa Mallin, Overland Park, and Zach Mallin, Kansas City, Missouri; great grandchildren Kiley and Joshua Bourke and Eli and Jonah Solomon; and sister-in-law Clara Chemny, Israel, and many nieces and nephews.

She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a survivor and fighter to the end.
