Norma Harper Gorsuch

Norma Harper Gorsuch passed away at home on March 8, 2015, having successfully fought breast cancer for over 34 years but losing her recent battle with leukemia.

 

Norma was born Oct. 10, 1937, in Denver Colorado, the oldest daughter of Sophie and Norman Harper. {mprestriction ids="1,3"}She was an amazing, wonderful, energetic, loving and beautiful woman who has left an adoring husband, Ed Gorsuch. Also surviving is a sister Judy Harper of Houston, Texas, a brother Jerry Harper (Anita) of Albuquerque, New Mexico, former brother-in-law Steve Falk, three nephews David Falk, Jonathan Falk and Jeffrey Harper, and Ed’s family, especially his grandchildren Alex, Kaitlyn and Zachary.

Upon graduating from Southwest High School, Norma spent two years in Paris studying at the Sorbonne, followed by Bennington College in Vermont, Sophie Newcomb in New Orleans, and completing her master’s in social work at the University of Kansas.

Norma was a social worker in California working with adoptions and a real estate agent in Kansas City. She was an avid tennis player, world traveler, bridge player, walker and a welcoming hostess. Her skills in bridge (life master), tennis and New York Times Sunday crossword puzzles (solving them with ease and in ink) are renowned. She maintained friendships worldwide, entertained graciously and lived and loved life with gusto.

You will be missed by many, Norma, but you will never be forgotten. There will be no funeral. Instead please celebrate Norma’s life by greeting each day with joy and energy, appreciating all you have been given and celebrating with those you love.
