Roslyn "Roz" Kaplan

Roslyn “Roz” Kaplan, 63, of Overland Park passed away in her home on March 10, 2015. Roz was born in Brooklyn, New York, on Dec. 1, 1951, to Lorna and Nathan Kaplan. She attended Martin Van Buren High School and Queens College before joining the United States Navy. Roz served in the Vietnam War, first at the Pentagon and then in San Diego.

 

Before moving to Overland Park, Roz lived in Boston and owned a graphic design and photography business. {mprestriction ids="1,3"}Her hobbies included going to movies, reading, Scrabble, spending time with good friends and her collection of “cat” art. Roz was a dedicated volunteer at the Humane Society of Kansas City and enjoyed participating in their fundraising campaigns. 

Roz is survived by her sister Trudy Slatkin (Mark) and her brother, Lou Kaplan (Amy); along with her nieces, Debbie Lindenlaub (Adam) and Lisa Kaplan; her nephews, Jon Slatkin (Suzi) and Jason Kaplan (Kathy); and seven great niece/nephews: Hannah, Noah, Jacob, Ollie, Nathan, Hunter and Margaret. She is also survived by her loving cat, Penny. Roz was predeceased by her parents, Nathan and Lorna.

Memorial services were held at The Louis Memorial Chapel on March 13.

Memorial donations may be made in Roslyn’s name to the Humane Society of Greater Kansas City, in keeping with Roz’s motto: “Keep Smiling and Simply Purrrrr…”
