Elaine Ruth Sackin passed away Feb. 13, 2015. She was born on Aug. 27, 1916, to L.G. Galamba, Sr. and Sylvia Rae Galamba. {mprestriction ids="1,3"}She was the beloved wife of Erwin R. Sackin. They celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary this past Oct. 7, 2014.
Elaine led a full life, attending both University of Missouri-Columbia and University of Illinois-Champagne. Elaine was actively involved in various charitable organizations including Menorah Hospital Women’s Auxiliary, Headstart of Kansas City, The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art and many other organizations. Elaine was a former member of Oakwood Country Club where she enjoyed playing golf and tennis.
Elaine and Erwin’s happiest moments were spent with their three children participating in all their school activities (from kindergarten through college), traveling together and with their family, and sharing wonderful moments at Christmas and birthdays.
Besides her husband Erwin, Elaine leaves behind her three children, daughters, Judith Kravat (Jeffrey) of Madison, Wisc., Patricia Nelson (Steven) of Overland Park, Kan.; son, Andrew R. Sackin of New York, N.Y.; grandchildren, Tim Schultz (Michelle), David Schultz (Jenny), all of Overland Park, Stephanie Pyke of Madison, Jennifer Kravat of Milwaukee, Wisc., Sally Hodgkinson (Charles) of London, England; great- grandchildren, Mathew Connery, Samantha Schultz, Eric Schultz, Tyler Schultz, Zachery Schultz, Isis and Rex Hodgkinson and sisters-in-law, Lou Galamba and Margie Sackin.
