Estelle Robinson

Estelle Robinson, 98, of Southfield, Mich., died Jan. 13, 2015.

Estelle was the beloved wife of the late Dr. Harold Robinson; cherished mother of James Robinson and the late Carol Frank; mother-in-law of Jerome Frank; loving grandmother of Jay A. (Lisa) Homburger, Richard (Heather) Homburger, Whitney Robinson and Hunter Robinson; adoring great-grandmother of Hayden Homburger, Hudson Homburger and Charles Robinson Homburger. {mprestriction ids="1,3"}Dear aunt of Dorothy Hack, Ellen Robinson, Ronald Robinson, Jo-Anne Schimmelpfennig and Nancy Meisler. She is also survived by her devoted caregivers Sonia Sumling and Shannon Nelson.

 

She was born in St. Louis, Mo., on Aug. 8, 1916. Estelle graduated from the University of Illinois before relocating to Detroit in 1946. She then moved to Kansas City in 1983 and returned to Detroit to live with her daughter and son-in-law Jerry and the late Carol Frank.

Estelle was very active in the community. She was a life member of the National Council of Jewish Women, member of Brandeis University National Women’s Committee regional board, and served as president of Jewish Woman International Detroit chapter and as a regional board member. She was also very active in serving as book sale chairman for many years for the Brandeis book sale.

She was a member of Temple Beth El for 60 years. Estelle and her late husband Harold Robinson, MD owned the Bedford Nursing home.
