Keith Goldin Seymour, Ph.D., died Sept. 29, 2014, at Menorah Medical Center after a four-month battle with pneumonia. Burial was Oct. 3 in Fairfax, Mo.
{mprestriction ids="1"}He was born Jan. 25, 1922, in Fairfax, Mo., where he grew up, to Vern and Esther Seymour.
He attended Kemper Military Academy, Iowa State University (earning a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master of Arts degree), and Texas A&M (where he earned his doctorate and post doctorate degrees). Keith served in the Infantry during World War II as a combat medic, receiving the Bronze Star for his actions in the Battle of the Bulge.
He retired from Dow Chemical in 1979 as a supervisory research chemist. After retiring, Keith completed a project for the United Nations during which he studied the chemical needs for pest control and crop yield for the country of India.
He was elected to the City Council for the city of Lake Jackson, Texas. He was a fellow of AAAS, a member of The American Chemical Society, Sigma Xi, Phi Kappa Phi, Elks and the American Legion. He is listed in Who’s Who in the Midwest, 1982-3 Edition.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife of 54 years, Wanda Cox Seymour. He is survived by his wife Donna Seymour of the home, two children, John Kirk Seymour, Odessa, Texas, and Janette Ann Seymour, Atlanta; two stepchildren, Stephen Small of Kansas City, Mo.; and Susan Smith (Trevor), Austin, Texas; four grandchildren, Stephen Seymour (Maike), Columbia, S.C., Brian Seymour (Laura), Bella Vista, Ark., Chris Seymour (Hillary) Arlington, Texas, and Jennifer Shank (Jesse), Tucson, Ariz.; three step grandchildren, Tim, Phil and Nichole Smith of Austin, Texas; and eight great-grandchildren. Keith was respected and loved by all who knew him and will be greatly missed.
