Charlotte Fichman, 86, of Overland Park, passed away Thursday, Aug. 21, 2014, at Village Shalom.

Funeral services were held Sunday, Aug. 24, at The Louis Memorial Chapel, with burial at Rose Hill Cemetery. The family suggests contributions to Village Shalom or Kansas City Hospice and Palliative Care.

Charlotte was born May 14, 1928, in Kansas City, Mo., the daughter of Philip and Rosa (Peltzman) Solomon and was a lifelong area resident. 

She married Jack Fichman on June 4, 1950, and they enjoyed 59 years of marriage prior to his death in 2010. After the birth of their first child, Charlotte was a stay at home mom raising their three sons.

Charlotte enjoyed playing Mah Jongg, watching her kids play sports and was known for baking her special chocolate chip cookies for everyone. She was a member of Hadassah and the Marcela Roden Club.

In addition to her parents and husband, Charlotte was preceded in death by her sister, Florence Hoffman, in 2011.

She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Jan and Anita Fichman, Leawood, Ken and Rose Fichman, Blue Springs, and Rich and Suzi Fichman, Kansas City, Mo.; granddaughters, Lauren Fichman and Valerie Fichman; grandsons, Adam Fichman and his wife Emma Bland, Ben Fichman, Geoffrey Fichman, Jake Fichman and Andy Fichman; great-granddaughter, Ariawna Thompson; sister-in-law, Joyce Fichman, Culver City, Calif.; and nieces and nephews.

Charlotte will be missed by her loving family and friends and will be especially remembered for her ever-present smile.
