Marc H. Rainen, 66, Kansas City, Mo., died on Saturday, Aug. 23, 2014, at the VA Medical Center in Kansas City, Mo., after a short struggle with cancer.

A graveside service was held Monday, Aug. 25, at Rose Hill Cemetery. The family requests contributions to Boy Scout Troop 50 at Keystone United Methodist Church in Kansas City.

Marc was born in Miami on April 6, 1948, and was one of two children raised by Bertha and Jack Rainen. Marc graduated from Southwest High School in 1966 and served with the U.S. Army 82nd Airborne in Vietnam from 1968 to 1970, earning a Bronze Star. He attended Baker University and was a lifelong member of Troop 50, Boy Scouts of America, Heart of America Council. Marc was a member of the Tribe of Mic-O-Say society at H. Roe Bartle Boy Scout Reservation, and The Temple, Congregation B’nai Jehudah. 

Marc’s career spanned a multitude of trades and businesses, from electronics sales to plumbing, building maintenance and security. He enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid reader of the history of his hometown, Kansas City.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife Karen (McAllister) Rainen.

He is survived by his four children, Brian Rainen, Jennifer Beckwith, Ian Cummings and Evan Rainen; sister, Lana Yunker; and three grandchildren, Brenton Dexter, Elliot Beckwith and William Beckwith.
