Stephen Bruce Chick of Prairie Village passed away peacefully on Monday, July 7, 2014.

Steve was born and raised in Kansas City, the son of Robert Chick and Lee Dorfman Chick. He was a graduate of Southwest High School.

Steve had many career paths, from a sales representative for Youthcraft Coats and Suits to co-founder and co-owner of The Metropolis American Grill in Westport, to food service director of Village Shalom, and most recently he operated a catering and party planning business called Wonderful Foods, Wonderful Parties until his death.

Steve is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Stacy and Brian Schleicher of Atlanta, Ga.; son and daughter-in-law, David and Courtney Chick, also of Atlanta; grandchildren, Kyle, Hailey, Jeremy, Justin, Bradley and Rebecca; sister and brother-in-law, Erica Chick and Art Nissenbaum of St. Louis; his niece and nephew Andrea and Travis; his stepmother, Bette Chick of Prairie Village; David Rabinovitz and Kevin Bowman and too many other close friends and family to name.

Per Steve’s wishes, there will not be a funeral or memorial service; however, a celebration of his life will occur at a later time. Donations may be made to Hadassah, Harriman Jewell, Midwest Center for Holocaust Education, Planned Parenthood, Heart of America Shakespeare Festival, UMKC Conservatory or the charity of your choice.
