Matilda and Martin Rosenberg of Overland Park, Kansas, announce the engagement of their daughter, Alanna Esther Rosenberg, to Dr. Joseph Marnin Kanter, son of Rosemarie and Dr. David Kanter of West Palm Beach, Florida.

 

The bride-to-be is the granddaughter of Alegre Tevet and the late Albert Tevet and the late May and Harry Rosenberg. Alanna attended Northwestern University where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in social policy. She also earned a master’s degree in public administration from Syracuse University and was awarded a Presidential Management Fellowship. She currently serves as an immigration and asylum officer in the Citizenship and Immigration Services, an agency in the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

The future groom is the grandson of Helena and Leo Silvers and Carol and Jacob Kanter. Joseph attended Northwestern University where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in history. He earned medical doctor and public health master’s degrees at Tulane University and was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship where he studied infectious disease overseas. Dr. Kanter completed his residency in emergency medicine at Yale University and Louisiana State University and currently serves as the Medical Director of the New Orleans Health Department and practices emergency medicine at University Medical Center in New Orleans.

The bride’s maternal grandparents and the groom’s maternal grandparents survived the Holocaust. 

The bride and groom look forward to a Nov. 13 wedding in New Orleans.
