Dillon Hollander, 18, will be awarded the rank of Eagle Scout at a Court of Honor to be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 16, at Atonement Lutheran Church in Overland Park. His Eagle project included building six raised planter boxes that allow wheelchair bound senior residents of the John Knox Village Care Center in Lee’s Summit to plant and care for their flower and vegetable gardens.
A senior at Shawnee Mission South high school, Dillon is the son of Todd Hollander and Stacy and Scott Winkler. His grandparents are Tina and Alan Chapman and Cookie and Ron Hollander of St. Louis.
In the 106 years since the founding of the Boy Scouts of America in 1910, more than 110 million Americans have at some point been members. As of 2014, a total number of 2,317,661 boys have become Eagle Scouts, which means only a very small per cent of individuals have achieved Scouting’s highest rank.
