Kent and Allegra Shanberg of Overland Park, announce the engagement of their son, David Arnold Shanberg, M.D., to Cheryl Lynn Rafsky, daughter of Carol Rafsky and the late Louis Rafsky of St. Louis, Missouri.
The groom is the grandson of Soly Mizrahi and the late Albert Mizrahi; Patsy Dunn Shanberg and the late Arnold Shanberg and the late Anna Rheva Shanberg. {mprestriction ids="1,3"}David graduated from Drake University with a Bachelor of Arts in biochemistry. He recently graduated from Ross University School of Medicine, with high honors. In July, he will begin his residency training at UMKC in surgery.
The future bride is the granddaughter of the late Jack and Lucy Ruben, and the late Cecil and Sylvia Gerr of St. Paul, Minnesota. In 2005, Cheryl began her career working for the international retailer H&M at the first St. Louis H&M Store. She then moved with the company to Chicago, and traveled the country, opening new stores. In 2013 she moved to Overland Park to open and manage the new H&M store at Oak Park Mall. Currently, she is store manager at the Country Club Plaza H&M.
A May wedding is planned at Kehilath Israel Synagogue.{/mprestriction}
