The Jewish Chaplaincy program, under the auspices of Jewish Family Services (JFS) will host the 2024 annual Pre-Passover Service of Spiritual Renewal.

The service is scheduled for Sunday, April 7, at 3 p.m. at Village Shalom (5500 W. 123rd St., Overland Park, KS 66209).

Leading this year’s service will be Jewish Community Chaplain Rabbi Jonathan Rudnick; Rabbi Alan Londy of The New Reform Temple; and Lezlie Zucker, music coordinator for Congregation Beth Torah. The service will include readings, prayers and music focusing on reflection and renewal.

“This year, the past traumatic history of our people has been renewed with the horrendously barbaric attacks of Oct. 7 and the subsequent taking and holding captive as hostages our Israeli sisters and brothers, in addition to the entire Palestinian civilian population of Gaza,” Rabbi Rudnick said. “The Haggadah teaches that in every generation, we must see ourselves as if each of us left Egypt. Unfortunately, this is easier to imagine this year than ever before in our recent past. Come join us [as a] community as we prepare for Pesach [and] strengthen one another and all of Am Yisrael.”

Those who would like to attend the service should RSVP by emailing their name and the number of people planning to attend with them to
