On Oct. 7, the Lawrence Jewish Community Congregation (LJCC) will celebrate Simchat Torah with a live klezmer band and dance party.

The entire Jewish community is welcome to attend the event at the LJCC at 917 Highland Drive, Lawrence, KS 66044.

The event will begin at 6:30 p.m. with a Kaddish Limmud, a “hallowing study” ceremony, on behalf of the LJCC religious students and as a way of marking their entry into the community of Jewish learning.

Following the ceremony, there will be a dance party with music by R&J (“Rhythm and Jews”) Klezmer, a klezmer band from Wichita, Kansas. A break for Havdalah will be followed by a final round of dancing and klezmer.

“We’re very excited to host R&J Klezmer for Simchat Torah,” Program and Engagement Director Dr. Lara Giordano said. “We hope others from the community will feel welcomed to join us in the celebration.”

This event is free and open to the public, but the LJCC does request advance registration at https://ljcc.shulcloud.com/event/simchat-torah-dance-party--kaddish-limmud.html
