Rita Shapiro, National Hadassah co-chair of antisemitism in the Education and Advocacy Division, will educate attendees of Beth Shalom Sisterhood PrayerWorks on Wednesday, June 28, at 11 a.m. on Zoom. The event is open to the community.

Shapiro is a native Kansas Citian who received her Jewish education at Congregation Beth Shalom. She served as the synagogue’s Sisterhood Torah Fund co-chair with Toba Maslan from 2021 to 2023, and she will serve on the Sisterhood general board for the 2023 to 2026 term. 

Additionally, Shapiro was the Hadassah Great Plains Region president from 2011 to 2014, the Greater Kansas City Chapter president from 2002 to 2004, and a GKC group president from 1997 to 1999. Shapiro has chaired major Region and Chapter conferences, programs, fundraisers, and installations and served in other chapter, region, and national positions.  

Shapiro's leadership skills were recognized by National Hadassah. In addition to being National Hadassah co-chair of antisemitism in the Education and Advocacy Division,  she has been in the Education and Advocacy or PRAZE Division since 2015 in various positions. She also serves as national member impact and giving liaison to the Great Plains Region in the Philanthropy Division. She was elected to the National Board of Directors of Hadassah in November of 2022 for a three-year term.

Shapiro has spent the last three years presenting and educating audiences for Hadassah about antisemitism.
