Jewish Family Services (JFS) is the home of the Jewish Community Chaplaincy program, which provides spiritual support for the community.

Its efforts include Spiritual Care Volunteers (SCVs), a group of dedicated people who help fulfill the mitzvah of bikkur holim (visiting the sick).

As part of the program, SCVs complete several training sessions that include spiritual prayer-related coaching, HIPAA regulations, and shadowing another SCV. Jewish Community Chaplain Rabbi Rudnick provides SCVs with advice and support throughout the year.

JFS celebrated SCVs’ efforts with a reception. At the event, SCV Lara Steinel was honored for her efforts as worship leader for the group.

There are two cohorts for SCVs: one visiting residents of long-term care facilities, and one for hospital visitations.
