Hadassah Greater Kansas City will celebrate its 21st Annual Hadassah Nurses Council Walk for Health on Sunday, May 14 (Mother’s Day), from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. at Gezer Park (13251 Mission Rd, Leawood, KS 66209).

This year, the Hadassah Greater Kansas City Nurses Council has chosen to honor nurses and nursing students who are younger than 50 and/or who have been in the nursing profession for 10 years or less.

Henrietta Szold, founder of Hadassah, famously said when posing for a portrait, “Make my eyes look to the future.” Co-Chairs Joyce Fulps and Marian Kaplan, both registered nurses and members of the local Council, have kept this goal in mind. The walk provides an opportunity for young Jewish nurses to meet each other and other members of the Nurses Council, in addition to others in our community.

Chapter leadership hopes that Hadassah members, associates, and the community will show their support of local nurses and nursing students by attending this annual walk.

The event is free and open to all. Pre-registration is requested by emailing with the subject line, “Hadassah Nurses Walk.”

As has been the tradition at this event, every Hadassah member or associate who attends will receive one free ticket toward the drawing for a free Hadassah Life Membership for a person of their choice. The recipient of the Hadassah Life Membership may be any age and reside anywhere in the U.S.

Donations to Hadassah in honor or memory of a nurse or loved one are welcome. For each $18 donation, donors will receive one ticket for the drawing. Funds raised will benefit Hadassah Medical Organization (HMO).

Any non-member honoree who attends will receive a complimentary Hadassah annual membership (or $36 toward becoming an associate).

Donation checks with “GKC Nurses Walk” written on the memo line may be sent to Hadassah Midwest, 900 Skokie Blvd, Suite 295, Northbrook, IL 60062, and must be received by May 11 to be eligible for the drawing. Donations may also be made online at www.hadassahmidwest.org/gkcwalk. Participants are welcome to make donations at the park on the day of the walk.

All attendees will be required to sign a Hadassah event participation release to attend Hadassah in-person events. There will be no exceptions to this policy. More information is available by contacting Marian Kaplan at .
