The AIDS Service Foundation of Greater Kansas City and AIDS Walk Kansas City are collaborating for the 35th annual Kansas City AIDS Walk on Saturday, May 6.

The walk, named “United in Triumph,” marks huge breakthroughs in HIV treatment and a continued commitment to raising funds for and awareness about HIV. Kol Ami and Ga'avah KC invite the community to join them as they walk together at the AIDS Walk, in Theis Park (Emanuel Cleaver II Blvd. and Oak St., just south of the Nelson-Atkins Museum).

Rabbi Doug Alpert will hold a brief Shabbat morning service at 8:30 a.m. on the south lawn of the Nelson-Atkins Museum near the glass labyrinth. Those preferring to join only the walk can meet the Kol Ami and Ga’avah team as it reconvenes at 9:15 or 9:30 a.m. by the AIDS Walk registration tables. Opening ceremonies and entertainment begin at 9 a.m., and the short walk starts at 10 a.m.

Ga’avah KC has a limited supply of custom-designed t-shirts available for $18 each as a donation to “AIDS KC.” Those interested in buying a shirt can go to aidswalkkansascity.org/Static/Event-Info, click on the "Donate" button in the red tab, click the recipient "Team" and find "Ga'avah & Kol Ami KC." Sizes are limited. Those wanting to wear their shirt at the walk should email  with their preferred size, and they will receive their t-shirt the day of the walk when they arrive at the Shabbat service or at the meetup location by the registration desk.
