After a three-year hiatus, the Heritage Center’s annual Open House will be held Wednesday, July 27, from 4 to 6 p.m.

Guests aged 65 and older are invited to attend the Heritage Center’s biggest event yet.

The Heritage Center, which is part of The J at the Jewish Community Campus, encourages senior adults to participate in fitness and social programs, educational and cultural classes and more to help increase health and wellbeing, all while connecting to other individuals and the Jewish community.

“The Heritage Center Open House is just around the corner, and we couldn’t be more excited,” said Sandra Greason, director of the Heritage Center at The J. “It has been three years since our last Open House, so we are looking forward to this year’s event. This is going to be our biggest and best one yet, with more food, more activities and even more giveaways.”

The event will include demonstrations from art instructors at the Blitt Art Studio, which opened as part of The J’s expansion in November 2020.

“I’m excited to have the opportunity to meet a lot of new people and show off the wonderful ceramic studio,” said Debi Cox, a ceramic instructor for the Heritage Center. “[At our last open house], we didn’t have this beautiful new studio. We’ll have demonstrations for both hand building and wheel throwing.”

In addition to demonstrations from various instructors, food and entertainment will be provided. Attendees can watch or participate in fitness and ceramics demonstrations and will be able to paint their own small canvas. Prizes and giveaways are planned for those in attendance.

All guests are encouraged to register ahead of time by visiting thejkc.org/hcopenhouse

“It’s a great opportunity to discover everything the Heritage Center offers from exercise classes to art classes,” Greason said. “If you or someone you know is 65 and older, we hope to see you there.”
