Jewish Family Services and the Hyman Brand Hebrew Academy will host “Our Youth and Their Mental Health” on Wednesday, March 30, at 7 p.m. in the Jewish Community Center and virtually.

During the pandemic, research has indicated that many youths have struggled with their mental health, especially schoolchildren. Providing support for families helps support students. “Our Youth and Their Mental Health” is in response to the release of the U.S. surgeon general's Protecting Youth Mental Health Advisory and the needs of the Jewish community.

Dr. Shayla Sullivant, a child and adolescent psychiatrist with Children’s Mercy Hospital, and a panel of experts will discuss tween, teen, and youth mental health. Topics that will be addressed include:

  •       Current information, research, and data
  •       Importance of resilience and proactive factors
  •       Resources and tools to support children
  •       Encouragement and strength for families

The Jewish community is invited to attend this event. Registration is available at jfskc.org/event/lets-talk-our-youth-their-mental-health/?instance_id=6244.
