Members of Congregation Beth Shalom and the entire Jewish community are invited to join the Beth Shalom Sisterhood members for the second trimester of the Sarah Peltzman Education Series.

Classes begin on Thursday, Feb. 3.

The cost is $15 per unit for new students who are not already participating in Peltzman classes. Registration is available online. Visit bethshalomkc.org/upcoming-events/ and scroll down to “Peltzman Educational Series” for information on the upcoming units and register.

The second unit in the series will be taught by Hazzan Ben-Yehuda; the topic is “Midrash—the What and Why Behind the Stories You Think You Know.” These classes will be held in person in Goldsmith Hall at the synagogue from 10-11:30 a.m. weekly from Feb. 3 to March 3.

The third unit will be taught by Rabbi David Glickman; the topic is “Great Arguments: How the Jewish Methods of Disagreement are What the World Needs Now.” This is a course based on Rabbi Morey Schwartz’s book “Where’s My Miracle,” and an expansion of the Melton course taught in 2021. These classes will be held in person in Goldsmith Hall at the synagogue from 10-11:30 a.m. weekly from April 28 to May 19.

On May 26, there will be a guest speaker who will be a Melton instructor and will preview a new course for students. Those attending will receive a discount on an upcoming class.
