Jewish Family Services needs your help to make Hannukah a little brighter for individuals and families in the community who are facing challenges.

Thanks to Jewish Family Services’ annual Hanukkah Holiday Project, more than 300 individuals will receive gifts and gift cards during the Festival of Lights, which begins this year on Sunday, Nov. 28.

“It’s overwhelming to see how grateful individuals and families are when they receive their gifts and are able to celebrate a traditional Hanukkah,” said Melissa Kingston, JFS special events coordinator. “As far as we know, JFS is the only organization providing this wonderful service to our community. The Hanukkah Project won’t be possible if wasn’t for the support JFS receives from donors and volunteers.”

You can support the Hanukkah Project by purchasing gifts for individuals from their wish list from the online Gift Registry posted at www.jfskc.org/jfs-hanukkah-project-2021. A variety of gifts are available in a range of prices from Target, Walmart and Amazon.

Please have gifts shipped directly to JFS no later than Nov. 1. When browsing the gift registry, hover over the info icon in the upper left corner of the gift request to learn more about the individual client. Ship gifts to JFS Attn: Hanukkah Project, 5801 W. 115th St, Suite 103, Overland Park, KS 66211. Please copy and paste the JFS address into your shipping address and ignore “click here to have this shipping address follow you to check out.”

You can also donate gift cards in $25 increments from Target, Walmart, Amazon, HyVee, Price Chopper or Hen House. Gift cards will be given to recipients allowing them to shop for themselves or to help purchase groceries and other essentials. Gift cards may be mailed to JFS or dropped off outside the JFS office at the Jewish Community Campus. All gift cards must be received by JFS no later than Nov. 1.

Donations can be made online at www.jfskc.org/donate-holiday/. Checks may be mailed or dropped in a secure drop box outside the JFS offices at the Jewish Community Campus or in Brookside at 425 E. 63rd St., Kansas City.

Volunteers are needed to help inventory and organize gifts for four to eight hours a week from Oct. 18 to Nov. 19 at the JFS Overland Park office. If you love detail and are fully vaccinated against Covid-19, JFS needs you. To learn more, email .
