Chabad of Greater Kansas City announces that Simcha Gifts for Chanukah 2020 expanded and distributed over 600 “holiday gift” packages this season. As more seniors are home bound due to the pandemic, Simcha Gifts responded and spread its wings across the width and breadth of the Greater Kansas City area.

This year, the Simcha gift package included the story of Chanukah, candle blessings, a box of candles, chocolate coins and more. To accomplish this donor-supported program, Simcha Gift volunteers regularly contact the activity directors of area retirement centers and nursing homes to update program participation to better serve the community.

Through the work of dedicated volunteers from the Kansas City Jewish community and generous supporters, Simcha Gifts are procured, packed and distributed to all Jewish seniors five times a year. The program touches the lives of Jewish seniors who are affiliated or unaffiliated.

As more people are feeling isolated during this time due to the pandemic, Simcha Gifts continues to reach a record number of vulnerable seniors with hope, caring and a message for the holidays.

Simcha Gifts is grateful to all the wonderful volunteers who helped plan, pack and distribute the packages. Anyone who would like to be included in a holiday gift package or knows of someone who would appreciate a package, contact Blumah Wineberg at 913-940-1113. If you would like to be a donor or sponsor of a holiday, call that number to talk to Wineberg. All supporters of Simcha Gifts are graciously acknowledged for each holiday. Also, arrangements can be made to set-up a donor fund in honor or memory of a loved one.
