Hadassah Greater Kansas City recently honored its affiliated attorneys and judges at its third annual Touch of Red Gala, in memory of Hadassah life member Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Attorneys who attended the Gala had the opportunity to be introduced and to share their individual areas of legal practice.

At the conclusion of the Gala, which was held virtually this year, Randa Maher, Hadassah National Attorneys & Judges Council co-chair, spoke with interested attorneys about the benefits of forming a local Hadassah Attorneys & Judges Council.

As is the case with a growing number of cities across the U.S., the local Hadassah Chapter is exploring the possibility of establishing a Council to provide professional and social programming for active and retired Jewish attorneys and judges in Greater Kansas City. This Council would offer opportunities for creative networking, continuing education credit and community service. Affiliated members may also participate in National Attorneys & Judges Council activities, such as the Supreme Court Swearing In.

Any active or retired attorney or judge is welcome to become affiliated with Hadassah as a member (women) or Associate (men). Currently, there are 35 attorneys affiliated with Hadassah in Greater Kansas City.

Membership in a professional Council is a benefit of affiliation as a Hadassah member or Associate. There is no extra charge to join a Council.

Lainie Decker and Andrea Baran, two local attorneys who attended the Gala, have volunteered to get the ball rolling. Decker is legal counsel at New Directions Behavioral Health, and Baran is regional attorney at the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
