The bride to be is the granddaughter of the late Donald and Frances Rosenberg of New Jersey, the late Paul and Leona Portnoy of St. Louis, and Eunice and Cliff Garrison of Lake Worth, Florida. She graduated from Drew University with a double Bachelor of Arts degree in political science and religious studies. She then completed two Master of Arts degrees from Ben-Gurion University in Be’er Sheva, Israel, in Middle East studies and politics of conflict. She works at The Peres Center for Peace in Jaffa, Israel.
The future groom is the grandson of Gertrude Nassif and the late Dan Nassif, and the late Harvey and Jean Weigensberg. He studied electrical engineering at Ben-Gurion University, Israel, which is where Lara and Zak met. He is an electrical engineer at GreenSmoke in Beit Shemesh, Israel.
A September 2016 wedding is planned.
