Justin and Meg Shaw announce the Bar Mitzvah of their son, Adam Werthan Shaw, at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, at The Temple, Congregation B’nai Jehudah at the Jewish Community Campus.
Adam is the grandson of Patricia Uhlmann and the late John Uhlmann, Beatrice Frank of Arlington, Virginia, and Michael Shaw of The Villages, Florida. His great-grandmother is Heloise Werthan Kuhn of Nashville, Tennessee. Adam is the brother of Joshua David and Madeline Ella.
Adam plays baseball on the seventh-grade Pembroke Hill team and is involved in the upcoming school production of “The Outsiders.” He also enjoys chess, books, movies, music and video games.
For his Mitzvah project, Adam has chosen to volunteer with Free Hot Soup, a group whose mission is to share with those most in need. He has prepared and distributed meals to the homeless and underserved in the Kansas City community.
