Jack M. Nachman, 90, of Mission, passed away on June 13, 2012, after a graceful battle with cancer.

Jack was born June 6, 1922, in Kansas City, Mo. He attended Border Star elementary school and graduated from Southwest High School in 1940, where he was an accomplished track star. He attended the University of Illinois until the outbreak of World War II. He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1942, and served in Brooklyn, N.Y., and the Admiralty Islands in the South Pacific until 1946. After the war, he attended the University of Kansas City. He met Jean Weill in 1950, and married the love of his life in 1951.

Jack served the community throughout his life. He served on the boards of Jewish Family and Children Services and Lido Villas Homes Association, as treasurer of The New Reform Temple, and volunteered with Genesis School and Junior Achievement. He was a board member, officer and member of Oakwood Country Club. He loved the times spent with family and friends on the golf course. He was an avid golfer, tennis player and bridge partner.

Jack formed and operated Peerless Business Service, providing bookkeeping and tax preparation services, with his brother-in-law Jules Mayer from the 1950s until 1970. He was a licensed real estate agent in Missouri and Kansas in the 1970s and 1980s, working with Eugene D. Brown Company, and Pachter/Tilzer Realty Company. In the 1990s, he worked with H & R Block as an auditor. He then found his ideal career niche working with the H & R Block Foundation, matching his business skills and passion for helping those in need, as a program administrator, providing consultation to non-profit organizations until his retirement in 2012.

Jack was a true gentleman who cherished his family and friends. His sweet spirit and sense of humor will be missed by those who loved him.
