Maurice “Sonny” Shron, 89, of Overland Park, died Saturday, April 14, 2012.

Sonny was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. on May 19, 1922. He was a World War II veteran and had lived in Kansas City since 2003. He and his wife Rose moved to Monsey, N.Y., when they married and where they raised their children.

Sonny was preceded in death by his loving wife of 58 years and is survived by his children, Rav Hazzan Jeffrey Shron (wife Hedy), Overland Park, and Vivyan Marano (husband Robert) of Florida. He is also survived by his five grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Many remember Sonny’s beautiful singing voice, his friendly disposition and his ready smile.

Funeral services were held in Monsey. The family suggests contributions to Village Shalom or Kehilath Israel Synagogue.
